I’ve been a licensed home child care provider for twelve years and still love what I do. With the exception of the medical field, I believe there is no profession more rewarding or demanding as child care. I have been a member of the NNCCA since 2001. I’m a member of the UNR Family Child Care Network, the National Association for Family Child Care, the NAEYC, and I’ve been registered with the Nevada Registry since 2005. I am a registered facilitator with the Nevada registry and I enjoy teaching ECE classes. I am currently working on my reaccreditation with the National Association for Family Child Care. I am currently a T.E.A.C.H. recipient and am working on my Early Childhood Education degree. I am a mother of three awesome teenagers (okay…they aren’t always awesome, but I love them dearly). I am married to a wonderful man that has supported all my volunteer endeavors for twenty years now. I am excited to be the president of the NNCCA and am looking forward to serving you.
As one of thirteen children, I have always felt at home with a house full of children. I have been a licensed home child care provider for over thirty years and still enjoy the many rewards of working with young children. I am the proud mother of four of my own grown children and four beautiful grandchildren. I have been happily married to my high school sweetheart for forty years. Professionally, I have belonged to the Northern Nevada Child Care Association since it was formed in 1978, serving on the board as Secretary, Vice President, and President. I have been accredited through NAFCC since 1998, thanks to the support and encouragement of the UNR Family Child Care Network of which I have been a member since 1996. I have been on the board of the Reno Association for the Education of Young Children for the last eight years, serving as Vice President, two consecutive terms as President, and currently Vice President again. I am registered with the Nevada Registry as a trainer and to make use of their service of keeping track of my placement on the Nevada Early Care and Education Professional Career Ladder. I also serve as a representative of home child care providers on both the Washoe County Child Care and T.E.A.C.H. Advisory Boards. As a T.E.A.C.H. scholarship recipient, I am continuing my education toward an Associates degree in Early Childhood Education at TMCC.
